Datchworth Green Car Park update

We are finally able to let you know that work to revamp the  car park opposite The Plough is scheduled to start week commencing 4 August 2025, and is expected to take about 4-5 weeks.  The principal contractor will be John Cobb and Sons who carried out the resurfacing works at the Village Hall.

The initial phase of the work will involve clearing the site and digging out the existing surface material, which will need to be removed – so please expect to see a considerable number of lorries during this time.    The contractors will then make provision for drainage, lighting and power cables.  The ground level will be restored by laying hardcore and finished with tarmac.   Finally, there will be landscaping around the edges of the car park.  The finished car park will have marked out spaces, including a disabled parking space, a bicycle rack and a pedestrian entrance.

We look forward to having an accessible, free-of-charge car park providing convenient parking close to the Village Shop, Datchworth Coffee and the Plough.
